Prof. Dr. Diego
Kuonen, CStat PStat CSci, graduated in 1998
from the `Institute of
Mathematics' at the `Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne'
(EPFL) in Switzerland with a Master's degree in Applied Statistics
(`MSc in Mathematics').
In 2001 he received, under the supervision of
Professor A. C. Davison, a PhD degree in Statistics (`Doctor in Science EPF' -
the highest degree delivered at the EPFL). Both degrees were
obtained for outstanding works in applied statistics, mainly in the
interface of statistics and computer science.
He has extensive experience in applying statistical engineering,
statistical thinking, statistics, data mining (data science) and big data analytics within large and small
companies in Switzerland and throughout Europe.
In addition, he is also Adjunct Professor of Data Science at the Geneva School of Economics and
Management (GSEM) of the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and
Founding Director of GSEM's new Master of Science in Business Analytics program. Further information

Currently, he is also the principal scientific and strategic big data
and data science advisor and consultant for the Directorate, the Board
of Management and the `New Data Sources'
working group of the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO) in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
One of his credos with respect to data-driven business analytics is the
wish to fill the gap between academic research and professional business
management practice to enable continuous improvement.

Cosimo Caforio
has more than 20 years of experience in the (big) data business,
related services, technology and solutions. He has been working
for major technology vendors like TIBCO, SAS Institute, Sybase,
Hewlett-Packard and specialised consulting companies in the
area of customer analytics and AML (risk, fraud). His main focus
today is helping organisations to define and implement advanced
analytics as part of their strategy related to
digitalisation, big and process data and IoT.

Dr. David W. Warne
graduated in 1985 from the University of Warwick, UK (`BSc in Mathematics
and Statistics'),
in 1987
from the University of Reading, UK (`MSc in Biometry') and in
1991, he received, under
the supervision of Prof. RN Curnow, a PhD degree in Medical Statistics
(Thesis: `Bayesian design and analysis of clinical trials').
In 1991, David joined Ciba-Geigy in Basel and in 1995 he joined Serono
in Geneva, holding various positions of increasing responsibility:
Statistician,
Senior Statistician, Principal Statistician, Manager Biostatistics,
Associate
Director Biostatistics. From 2007 to 2013, in Merck Serono, his positions
were:
Associate Director Biostatistics, Group Leader, Endocrinology &
Reproductive
Health Biostatistics, and Global Processes Head.
Since May 2013, he has worked as a Consultant Biostatistician for a variety
of
companies in Geneva, Switzerland, Europe and India. Since May 2015, he is
an
Academic Fellow at the University of Geneva, where he teaches a course on
the
`Introduction to Biostatistics' to Statistics MSc and Pharmacy PhD
students.
He is member of various statistical associations and he
is author of over
50 publications.

Dr. Jacques
Zuber graduated in 1993 from the `Institute of Mathematics' (former
`Department of Mathematics')
at the `Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne' (EPFL) in
Switzerland with
a Master's degree in Applied Statistics (`MSc in Mathematics').
In 1999 he received, under the supervision of Professor P. E. Nuesch,
a PhD degree in Statistics (`Doctor in Science EPF').
He was an `Honorary Research Fellow' in La Trobe University, Bundoora,
Australia
from 1999 to 2000. Back in Switzerland, he worked as a consultant in
applied statistics at AICOS Technologies in Basel, Switzerland.
Since
the beginning of 2002 Dr. Jacques Zuber is Data Science Teacher at
the `University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland'
(`Haute Ecole d'Ingénierie et de Gestion du Canton de Vaud', HEIG-VD)
in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, where he teaches applied statistics
and probability for engineers. In addition, he is Associate Professor
at the `University of Neuchâtel', where he teaches data mining and big
data analytics. Dr. Jacques Zuber has supervised different master thesis
at the `University of Neuchatel'.

Dr.
Corinne Hager Jörin graduated in 1995 from the
`Institute of Mathematics' (former `Department of Mathematics')
at the `Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne'
(EPFL) in Switzerland with a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics.
In 1999 she received, under the supervision of Dr. J.-M. Helbling,
a PhD degree in Statistics (`Doctor in Science EPF').
In 2000 Dr. Corinne Hager Jörin
joined the Nestlé Research Center in Vers-chez-les-Blanc, Switzerland,
as a biostatistician. In 2004 she became
manager of the Applied Mathematics group at the Nestlé Research Center.
Since October 2007 she is Professor at the
`University of Applied
Sciences of Western Switzerland' (`Haute Ecole d'Ingénierie et
d'Architecture de Fribourg'), where she teaches linear algebra, analysis and
statistics to engineers and participates to some research programs of the
university.
She is member
of various statistical associations.
